Feeling Chatty

Post by Carrie Farmer »

This topic is for when you are "feeling chatty" and to further a sense of community within our co-op. Do you have pets, children, or grandchildren you want to share pictures of? This is the place to do it. Did you grow a particularly stunning flower or vegetable in your real life garden this year? Please share it with us. If you're feeling a little silly, you can share a joke or an amusing incident with us. If you've just discovered the greatest recipe ever, please post it here. If you just want to stop in and say "Hi" please feel free to do so! :P

[/img]Hi,
So grateful we have a place to go and actually type a long sentence. lol
Thanks to Carrie & Cate for working on this, it is terrific.

I'm retired, 65 years old. I've been widowed for 13 in March.
I have no children. But I have (in my opinion) the cutest little furbaby, his name is Bear. It is the picture in my icon on FV2.
He is a pure bred Shih Tzu. He is 6 1/2 yrs old & a whopping 10 lbs.

I live in South Central KY and have for 45 1/2 yrs, originally from Detroit, MI
I volunteer at a local non-profit retail store. I'm the secretary and manage it on Mondays. We are affiliated with St. Vincent de Paul.

There's a St. Vincent de Paul in the city closest to where I live. It's one of my favorite places to poke around and find bargains. :)

My friend has a Shih Tzu mix named Moose. I think I'm starting to see a trend with naming. LOL

I am surprised that no one else besides the 3 of us have been on the forum. Again, I appreciate everything that the two of you have done to make this a reality for us.

Bear actually looked like a German Shepard when I first got him. Now he goes from dark grey (when hair is long) to light grey after a grooming.

I have volunteered at the store for the past 5 1/2 yrs. I am so proud of our accomplishments, last year we gave back to our community a little over $60,000, paying an assortment of bills, giving away free vegetables, donating money to local organizations.
The highest price piece of clothing in the store is just $5.00 for winter coats.

I'm hoping the rest of the co-op members will join the forum. I love having a forum back again. It makes communicating so much easier.

How often do you have Bear groomed? We have two dogs, but they don't get groomed professionally. They only have to suffer through a bath when they get too dirty.

St. Vincent de Paul does an amazing job!

Hi!

Well I don't have any pets unless you count a newly adopted? Betta. LOL Not much company but at least I can honestly say I am no longer talking to myself.

I do have two perfectly splendid Great Grandchildren though. <3 And of course my children and grandchildren all have mulitple dogs & cats so at least I get to spend time with them all. My daughter sadly lives in another province and up north so those visits are rare.

Grew up of course with horses and dogs and continued that "tradition" until I had to move from farm. Guess thats why I enjoy farmville so much and having you all to chat with is another bonus.

First, I usually try to get Bear groomed every month to 6 weeks. With the Shih Tzu the hair grows so fast especially around the eyes, which makes it difficult for him to see sometimes. I can tell when he is having a hard time, he usually sits on the floor in front of his chair and sort of makes an attempt to jump after 5 or 6 tries he will make it. The other 3 I had when was B.J. was alive, we had them groomed only after they started getting older (us too), the boy had body hair that almost touched the ground. All 3 were so much easier to take care of, they would lay in the floor for us to brush their hair (they loved it).

Second, Gayle I use to have guppies & black mollies (back in the early 80's). I could sit for hours and watch them. I too use to have a farm, I love FV2 better, hours are better and MUCH cleaner. lol

I used to have multiple aquariums, both fresh and salt water. Now we have one fresh water aquarium with a few fish and a lot of plants.

These are our pups.

Halan (the white one) is a Polish Tatra Sheepdog. He turned two in December. This picture is about a year old, so he is bigger now; 88 pounds.

Jasmine is an Agouti Siberian Husky. She will be two in a little over a week. She is now 50 pounds.

I'll have to round up some pics of them all.. but for now here's a pic of our "Buddy", he was here when he moved in, so he came with our house lol.
